Our story
Delanoy Construction is led by Eric Delanoy who boasts over 25 years of top-notch experience. Eric’s construction career began in central Texas at 16 on a residential framing crew. 6 years later he started his first contracting business, as a framing contractor working in the Austin area and framing for local builders and architect firms. The housing bubble catastrophe caused Eric to change directions, finding a job as a foreman for a military contractor on Ft. Hood. Supervising a variety of construction projects overseen by the Corps of Engineers and the Department of Public Works. From there, Eric got involved in the application of polyurethane spray foam, spraying both commercially and residentially. Taking what he learned to Oklahoma City he continued in spray foam starting a large company’s spray foam department. The company’s paint, cabinet finishing and drywall finishing department subsumed the spray foam department making one all-inclusive coatings department. Shortly thereafter Eric was tabbed as the foreman of that department, a role which he held for 3 years until deciding to take his family back home to Texas.
Eric transitioned into a role as lead carpenter working for a well-established general contractor (JC Stoddard Construction), who performed new construction, renovations, and historic restorations. Clients included the Texas Historic Commission, Catholic Diocese of San Antonio, Hemisfair Conservancy, the Episcopal Diocese of San Antonio, and the Texas General Land Office.
In 2016 Eric was promoted to superintendent and tasked with superintending the remodel of the bathrooms at the Alamo. The job was a success, so much so, that the management group at the Alamo offered Eric the position of Facilities Project Manager. Eric was hired and held the position for approximately one year, the major accomplishment being the staff’s first ever in-house design and built exhibit; that being the Jim Bowie exhibit which was opened in 2017. The timing of Eric’s involvement at the Alamo coincided with the ‘Re-Imagine the Alamo” initiative which changed the dynamic significantly and Eric was invited back by his former employer; JC Stoddard.
The next 5 years included superintending greater and greater projects for such clients as the New Braunfels I.S.D., The Archdiocese of San Antonio, Texas Historic Commission, and the Chinati Foundation.
Eric’s final project being the restoration of the John Chamberlian Building in Marfa, which is when the spirit and beauty of the region prompted the desire to stay and start a general contracting business.
